Heavenly Hosts of Angels
There are many instances in the bible where the Lord used angels to carry out the orders of heaven. Angels and other heavenly beings are referred to more than 370 times in the Word of God. They are created beings but they are not omnipotent, omniscient or omnipresent, although they do not die. They have great authority but they are not equal with God.
We are not to worship them but we are to worship Jesus Christ only. God created them before He created the world and they worship Jesus 24/7 night and day. There is so much we could learn from the Word of God about angels. Luke chapter 15 says there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.
The Hebrews chapter 13 says that we may be entertaining angels unaware. They could appear to us in dreams, visions, trances and they could also appear to us in person. There are cherubim, seraphim, watchers and arch angels just to name a few. Hebrews 12:22 says there are an innumerable company of angels.
Angels could minister to us, they could protect us, they could fight for us and they could also speak to us. They are powerful and mighty. In Revelation chapter 12 the angel Michael fought the dragon (Satan). Revelation chapter 7 speaks about the four angels at the four corners of the earth that held back the four winds.
Before time began, Satan was an angel in heaven named Lucifer. (Isaiah 14) Pride caused him to fall when he wanted to be equal to God. One third of the angels were deceived and fell with him. He was an arch angel and he along with the other cherubim’s oversaw the sanctuaries of heaven. After he fell he lost all his power. The presence of God was no longer inside of him or upon him.
Ezekiel Chapter 28 tells us that he was perfect in his ways until iniquity was found in him. He was the highest of heavenly beings as well as an anointed cherub. He had musical instruments embedded into his being, and he was covered with nine precious gemstones set in gold.
In the book of Daniel Chapter 6, when Daniel was then thrown into the lion's den, God sent his angel to shut the mouth of the Lions and deliver him. When King Darias saw this he issued a decree that every one of his people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. King Darias then confessed that the Lord is the living God and He endures forever; He declared that Gods kingdom will not be destroyed and His dominion will never end.
Angels have great authority. When Jesus was risen from the grave there was an earthquake. An angel rolled away the stone and the bible says that his countenance was like lightening and his clothing was white as snow. The guards shook for fear of him and became as dead men. When Peter was put in prison it was an angel who opened the gate and released him.
There are more than twenty interactions that humans have experienced with angels in the New Testament beginning with the angel Gabriel visiting Mary. In the book of Revelation chapter 18 when the angel came down from heaven with great authority, the earth was illuminated with his glory.
I’ve encountered angels in meetings several times. I never saw them with my natural eyes but I sensed their presence. One time I was in a prophetic conference in Kansas City and there was a fiery presence of God. During the worship I heard loud reverberating voices of angels singing. When I opened my eyes and looked around, it appeared that no one else seemed to hear this.
Several other times I felt the presence of angels which is undeniably different than the presence of the Holy Spirit. One time a prophet called me out and said that he saw angels next to me. I felt their presence swirling around me. To some of you this may seem far out but we are in a season where the veil between heaven and earth is very thin. Some of you are about to encounter angels. I sense the sweet presence of the Holy Spirit as I am writing this
There is no need to look for them but Jesus is about to send them on assignment. He will send ministering angels to your families. As you speak His Word, the angels will harken unto that word to perform it. Create an atmosphere where the Holy Spirit as well as the angelic is welcomed. Once again, we are not to worship angels but receive them as messengers from the throne room of God.
Psalm 103:20
Bless the Lord, you His angels. Who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His Word.
Hebrews 13:2
Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.
Revelation 18:1
After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his glory
